India's varied environment is the home of the vast range of animals and some rare species of birds like Rufous-chinned and white crested laughing thrush, rufous-breasted accentor, greater yellow-naped flameback, blue whistling thrush and red-billed blue magpie. Bird Watching Tour in India will take us to some of the magnificent destinations like Saatal, Pangot, Ranikhet, Nainital and Corbett National Park. The best time to take this tour is from the October to April as during this time various types of birds migrate during the winter season.


Day 1: Delhi - Saatal (about 300 kms)

In the morning drive to Saatal. Saatal is one of the most pleasant destination and one of the the most scattered and deliberately undeveloped area. In the evening we enjoy the bird watching with a guide near the lodge. Various species of birds such as white-crested laughing thrush, rufous-gorgeted flycatcher, red-billed leothrix, Siberian rubythroat, rock bunting etc can be seen in Saatal.  Overnight stay in a hotel. 


Day 2:  Saatal - Pangot
(about 40 kms)

In the morning enjoy the birding in and around Saatal. Here we view various birds like Rufous-chinned and white crested laughing thrush, rufous-breasted accentor, greater yellow-naped flameback, speckled piculet etc. Later in the afternoon drive to Pangot. This journey will take you on one of the world's most spectacular mountain roads as you climb up into the Kumaon Hills. On the route we look for various birds like blue whistling thrush, red-billed blue magpie, blue-capped redstart and white capped water redstart. Overnight stay at the Lodge with dinner.


Day 3: Pangot

Today we enjoy the whole day bird watching at Pangot. We wiil view various birds in Pangot like Slaty-headed and red-breasted parakeet, Grey bush Chat, long-tailed and grey-backed shrike, Common kestrel, Besra, Chestnut-bellied rock thrush etc. Streaked laughing thrush is a common garden bird here. Overnight stay in a lodge with all the meals.

Day 4: Pangot

Today we enjoy the whole day bird watching at Pangot

Day 5: Pangot
In the early morning we drive to Cheena Peak, which at 2610 meters offers views of the snow-clad Himalayan peaks including Nanda Devi. In Pangot a very good birding area is at the quiet old road through oak and rhododendron forests. This place is alive with various birds like grey-headed canary flycatcher, white-throated laughing thrush, grey-winged blackbird, green-backed tit. We also look for hill barbet, grey-headed woodpecker, black-chinned babbler, black-headed and maroon oriole.


Day 6: Pangot - Ranikhet 
(about 73 kms)

In the morning after having breakfast we will drive to Ranikhet through the Himalayan roads. On the way we will stop and watch the birds. We will see the birds like Sunbirds, Sultan Tit, Scaly breasted Wren-babbler, Black Bulbul, Black-capped Sibia, Black Eagle, King Vulture, and Blue throated Barbet etc. Ranikhet means 'Queen's Field'. It is named after the wife of the 12th-century raja, Sudhar Deve. Spread along a ridge at 6004 feet, Ranikhet is covered with pine and oak forests. The town of Ranikhet is now the home of the Kumaon Regiment, one of the India's best army. We will arrive in Ranikhet by the evening and stay in the hotel with all the meals

Day 7: Ranikhet - Corbett National Park
In the morning we drive to the Corbett National Park. This park was established in 1936 along the banks of the Ramganga River. It is the India's first National Park, and designated a Project Tiger Reserve in the year 1973. In 1957 it was renamed as Corbett National Park in honour of the late Jim Corbett, the legendary photographer and author. This park is known not only for its rich and varied wildlife but also for its scenic beauty. Around 50 species of mammals, 25 reptiles, 110 species of trees and 580 species of resident and migratory birds have been recorded in and around the reserve. In the evening view various birds like Great pied hornbill, Pallas fishing eagle, Grey-headed fishing eagle, Red-thighed Falconet, Tawny Fish Owl, Great Hornbill, Scaly-bellied Woodpecker, Red-breasted Parakeet, Himalayan Swiftlet, Stork-billed Kingfisher and Himalayan Rubythroat. Overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 8: Corbett National Park 
In the early morning drive to Dhikala tourism zone. In the afternoon arrive at the main tourist complex. In the evening visit the grasslands and view various birds like long-tailed nightjar, jungle owlet, spot-bellied owl, common stonechat, black francolin, purple and crimson sunbird, golden-fronted & orange-bellied leaf bird, black-shouldered kite and hen harrier. Along the Ramganga River we view various water birds in the lower jungles like river lapwings, waders, mergansers and other waterfowl.


Day 9: Corbett National Park
In the early morning we have an elephant safari in the Corbett National Park. We will view various animals like Tigers, Leopards, Sambars, Chital, Hog Deer, Porcupine, Wild Pigs and Fox. Later we drive to the hotel and en route stop for birding. Some of the best birding areas of Dhikala are Sambhar Road and Khinanauli. Here we will view Great slaty woodpecker, Great hornbill, Puff-throated babbler, White-rumped shama, Pallas fish eagle etc. In the night arrive at the hotel for dinner and have an overnight stay. 

Day 10: Corbett National Park - Delhi 

Today we will explore the river edge at Kumeria and view various birds like Tawny and brown fish owl, Asian barred owlet, plumbeous redstart, brown dipper, forktails, Crested tree swift, spangled drongo, blue bearded bee-eater etc. After visiting the river drive back to Delhi. In the evening arrive in Delhi.
