What is Mandukasana?

Mandukasana or the Frog pose is suitable for improving the flexibility of the legs especially the thigh muscles. This yoga posture gets its name from Sanskrit word Manduka means frog, The person performing it resembles Frog thus the name Mandukasana.

How to do Mandukasana?

For mandukasana sit in vajrasana first then spread your knees wide apart while keeping your big toes touching. Hold this position as per your comfort and then relax. This posture helps in strengthening tighs muscles and makes them firm and shapely.

 

 

What are the benefits of Mandukasana?

The Mandukasana helps reduce excess fat in the body especially in the thigh, hip and abdominal region. It helps in toning the muscles of the thigh region and increasing the flexibility of the legs. It is also helpful in the cure of pain in the knees, ankles, and back. It improves the functioning of the digestive and excretory systems and advisable in constipation, diabetes and digestive disorders.

 

Who should avoid Mandukasana?

People suffering from peptic or duodenal ulcer, severe back pain and cardiac problem, and patients who have undergone abdominal surgery should avoid practicing this asana.
