Garhwal Himalayas
About Garhwal Himalayas

The Garhwal Himalayas are mountain ranges located in the state of Uttarakhand, India. The mountain ranges comprise two regions: Garhwal Kingdom and Kumaun Kingdom.

Geology
This range is also a part of Himalaya Shivalik Hills, the outer most hills of the Himalaya located in Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand.

Demographics of Garhwal Himalayas

The cities which are included in these ranges are Hilli Haridwar, Srinagar, Pauri, and Kanshipur. Some of the beautiful sites of the location are Nainital, Dehradun and Mussoorie. Roorkee is known to be one of the greatest educational city of India as one of the topmost IIT institutes is located here in Roorkee.

The Garhwal Himalayas roll up to fearsome heights with vistas that make you meditate and levitate. But snug in the rugged mountains are also bugyals or alpine meadows, sleepy villages and everlasting chai shops, which help you get your breath back.

Garhwal is full of the stuff that excites travellers, trekkers and friends of the environment. For instance, rivers. This is where the almighty Ganga spurts out of ice and where the Yamuna puts in her first appearance. The Alaknanda emerges from the same glacial plateau as the Ganga. There's the Mandakini and a thousand smaller streams that are sometimes much more fun.

The lakes are amazing, sitting high up mirroring snow peaks.Down in the forests, of Chilla, Rajaji and Corbett National Parks, there are elephants, deer, birds, and maybe leopard and tiger. People from different cultures are also seen here. People here always willing to teach you a step of the local dance when helped by the local brew. And you can discover legends in every river, mountain, temple and lake.
