Jageshwar is a small pilgrimage town and was a medieval center of Lakula Shaivism. The temple at Jageshwar is widely accepted as the eighth Jyotirlinga. The temples were built by rulers of Kumaon between the 8th and 16th century. Jageshwar’s major attraction is the temple complex with the most important temples being the Mrityunjaya and the Jyothirlinga itself. The Dandeshwar Temple Complex, about a few kilometers away, is also a worth visiting place. A trek upto the Briddha Jageshwar Temple is a rewarding destination too.

For the accommodation, there are various rest houses and small hotels in Jageshwar. Among the various rest houses, one of the rest house is the Jageshwar Tourist Rest House. The Jageshwar tourist rest house is run by the Kumaoan Mandal Vikas Nigam Ltd. This rest house has about five deluxe rooms, eight super deluxe rooms and two family suites.
