Introduction of the Mehrangarh Fort

Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur is one of  largest and wonderful fort among various other forts of Rajasthan which was founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha. Mehrangarh fort has a glorious and striking structure with an amazing view of the adjoining landscape. This fort is perched on a rocky cliff. The fort is located at an elevation of about 125 metres and extends over an area of 5 square km with 7 gates. Every year the fort is visited by thousands of tourists from all over.

Mehrangarh Museum

Mehrangarh Museum is a series of palaces, a typically haphazard extension of buildings, of courtyards within courtyards, beautifully designed and decorated windows and walls, and inside a magnificient collection of the Maharajas memorabilia. It is wonderfully maintained and protected. The museum now exhibits a collection of weapons, tents, portraits, miniature paintings, books and manuscripts, textiles, and various artistic objects in fourteen display rooms.

Architecture of the Mehrangarh

The Mehrangarh fort is a maze of marvels, not knowing what the next doorway might lead to. In front of a large gate of the Fort, there is a local man of Jodhpur who has long beared and dressed in traditional threads with sword, hookah, turban, and shield welcoming the tourists. Also there are a lot of local musicians who are singing Rajasthani folk music.
Inside the Mehrangarh fort there are carefully preserved and well maintained royal artifacts which are Jewel House, Ajit Vilas, Durbar-e-Khash, Moti Mahal, Sukh Mahal and Phool Mahal.

Durbar-e-Khash
