Bhawan Palace was founded as a heritage hotel in Jodhpur in the year
1977. It is very best hotel in Jodhpur and one of the top heritage
hotels in India. Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur is one of the grandest
and largest private residences in the world. Umaid Bhawan Palace has a
very unique history. Umaid Bhawan Palace is the only palace which was
constructed in the 20th century as a famine relief project. Under this
project about 3000 artisans were given employment. It takes about 14
years to construction this palace. This palace is a wonderful example
of art deco and Indo-colonial style of the thirties. The palace
consumed about one million square feet of the finest marble.
Presently, Umaid Bhawan palace runs as a hotel, though part of it is
retained as museum and other part as royal residence. Lawns of the
palace are carved with sandstone pavements and bouquets of
bougainvillea bushes are a peaceful sight in this palace. This
glorious palace has a distinctive feature. The unique feature is that
some of the old retainers of the royal household are still there to
serve the needs of present day guests with the polite hospitality.
