Kumbhalgarh is well-known for its historical fort. Kumbalgarh fort was
founded by Rana Kumbh in 15th century AD. Kumbhalgarh Fort is most
elaborative and large. The fort covers a 36 km long wall which has
seven ramparts and seven majestic gates, one within the other which
are ideal for nature trail. Last gate-the 'Nimboo Pol' has attractive
chambers. The king of Mewar, infant Udai Singh was hidden in these
chambers to save himself from his murderous intentions of his uncles.
Udai Singh was the founder of Udaipur City. The fort has witnessed
many heroic deeds of great warriors. This formidable fort fell only
once to the army of Akbar and that too because the water supply was
contaminated by the enemy forces. |
