Information about Dalhousie
Dalhousie is a quiet town in Himachal Pradesh. Dalhousie covers an area of 14 square km and surrounded by alpine vegetation. This hill station spreads over five low-level hills at the western edge of the Dhauladhar range, just east of the Ravi River. The pine-covered slopes around it are intersected with paths and treks, which are ideal for short undemanding walks. This town is gateway to the Chamba Valley, and was established in 1854 AD by the British governor-general Lord Dalhousie. views of the mountainous ranges. The picturesque town is interspersed with the colonial-era buildings, low roofed stalls and hotels. The best time to visit Dalhousie is from mid-May to mid-October.

Climate of Dalhousie
The climate of Dalhousie ranges between 1,525 m and 2,378 m high from sea level. The maximum temperature of Dalhousie in summers is 30 degree Celsius and the winter temperature comes down to almost O degree Celsius. Heavy woolens are required in winter and light woolens or tropical in summer.

Tourist Attractions in Dalhousie
All local site seeing can be done on foot in Dalhousie. The main tourist attractions are Panchpula, Kalatop and Khajiar lake. Panchpula stream is the main source of water supply to Dalhousie and Bahloon. The stream springs from the north side of DayanKund and runs down a picturesque ravine to the waterworks of Panchpula. Kalatop and Khajiar are best explored if you take a three days walk from Dalhousie to Kalatop, Khajjiar and back. The trek is more or less level and requires good health, a pair of sturdy walking shoes. Kalatop is 10 kms from G.P.O. at an altitude of 8000 feet.

By Air:

The nearest airport is at Gaggal (Kangra), 140 kms from Dalhousie.

By Rail:

The nearest railhead is Pathankot, which is well connected to Amritsar, Jammu, Delhi and Jalandhar.

Road:
