Vijay Vilas palace was built in 1906 AD by Yuvraj
Vijay Sinhji of Palitana, a member of the Gohil Rajput
clan when he was an active ruler as the Maharaja of Bhavnagar. In fact it was built with the idea of being
functional as the country retreat. While keeping in
mind this plan, the rulers built the palace on the hills with great views of
the Shatrunjaya hill and historic Palitana temples.
