Solan

Solan is the rapidly growing town in Himachal Pradesh and a district headquarters of Mashru. Solan was also established by the British. This city is named after the goddess Soloni Devi, whose temple is located in the southern end of the town.

Solan is blessed with a pleasant climate all round the year. Solan is well known for its brewery started in 1835 with Anglo-German co-operation. This brewery is known as Dyer-Meakin Brewery which produce excellent beer and quality whisky.

Tourist Attractions in Solan

There are various tourist attractions in Solan. This town has the temples of Soloni Devi, Devi Durga, Hari, Narasing. The Children’s Park, Mohan Park, Jawahar Park, Library and the old Church at Chambaghat are the various places which can also be visited in Solan. From Solan, the Jatoli village and the temple of Lord Shiva can also be visited. Barog is located about 8 km from Solan and 37 km from Kalka. From Barog one can have a panoramic view of Churdhar Peak.

 
How to reach here:

By Air:
The nearest airports are located at Shimla and Chandigarh from Solan. The distance from these airports to Solan can be easily covered by road.

By Rail:
The nearest railway station is located at Kalka, about 44 kms from Solan. The Broad gauge track upto Kalka connects Kalka to Delhi, Kolkata and Amritsar. There is narrow gauge railway line from Kalka to Solan.

By Road:
Solan is also well connected by buses and taxis, which are easily available from Chandigarh and Delhi.
