About Laxman Sidh Temple

Laxman Sidh Temple is located at a distance of about 12 kms from Dehradun. It is on the way to Rishikesh. The place is known for its scenic beauty. It is visited by hundreds of people from all over. Laxman Siddh Temple lies very close about 1.5 km to the highway. On the first right turn after reaching sal forest there is a small bridge after Harrawala. It is located in the interiors of the Lachhiwala Forest in the Shivalik hill range.

It lies in the middle of thick forests. Laxman Sidh Temple is the cremation site of the Saint-Swami Laxman Sidh. It is famous for its solitude. The area is devoid of any market or any house. There is nothing but the virgin nature with it's the beautiful wilderness.

A path through the forest going from the temple moves uphill west and then goes down to the Suswa River near Mathurwala swamp. One can only reach here after passing 4 kms through one of the most outstanding patches of the sal in the valley.

From here one can go back to Dehradun via Clement Town. For going to the picnic spot from Laxman Sidh Temple, move along the highway until one pass across an over head railway crossing. The first turn to the left takes a forest path that goes to the picnic place (River Song) after a stretch of 3 kms.

The forest here is composite moist deciduous with sal trees scattered with other dense vegetation. It is a heaven for the ornithologists. They can watch birds along the marshes and grasses by the side of the Song River. The famous temple of Laxman Siddh is about 12 Kms away from Dehradun towards Hardwar/Rishikesh . Legend has it that a sage underwent sacrament over here. Due to easy accessibility the temple is visited by a large number of people especially on Sundays.

Laxman Siddha temple is known for its scenic beauty. This temple is the cremation site of the Saint-Swami Laxman Siddh, which is visited by large number of tourists every year. According to a popular belief, it is said that the temple is constructed on the same place where Laxman underwent repentance for killing the demon king Ravana. Thousands of devotees visit this temple during the annual Laxman Siddh Fair, which is also a major attraction. Tourists visiting the temple can reach here only on foot.

 
Laxman Siddha Fair Dehradun

One of the most popular fairs is the Laxman Siddha Fair that has a lot of significance in the region. This is mostly celebrated on Sundays where a large number of devotees gather to pay their honor to the holy Samadhi here.

The temple is presumably built in the memory of a saint named Laxman who got Siddhi (meaning excellence in spiritual powers and hence he became Siddh) and the temple came to be known as “Laxman Siddh Mandir”.It is a very popular destination amongst the visitors, especially for people with religious bent of mind.

The area is devoid of any market or any house. By Rail
Dehradun is a major railway station which is connected to all cities in the country. The major cities like Delhi (Mussoorie Exp), Kolkata (Doon Exp), Varanasi (Ghy Rajdhani), Mumbai (Dehradun Exp) and Indore (Ddn Indb Exp) are connected by express trains and super fast trains.

By Road
All nearby cities are connected to Dehradun by State owned Uttarakhand transport buses. It also connects Kashmere Gate in New Delhi with Dehradun. There are overnight deluxe A/C bus services of Uttarakhand Tourism from New Delhi to Dehradun.

By Air
Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is a domestic airport located about 20 km away from city center.  The airport operates daily flights to Delhi. Nearest International airport is Delhi, which is about 235 km away and is well connected to cities like London, New York, Paris, Singapore etc.
