There are about
thirteen gold embossed coaches in the train, inspired from the
mighty kingdoms of Gujarat and Rajasthan. There are various
modern facilities in the train, including central
air-conditioning, luxurious lounge, library, television and
library entertainment. Every cabin is clean, comfortable and
tastefully furnished. The cabins have spacious attached bathroom
with hot and cold running water and shower. There is a
multi-cuisine restaurant, where the delicious Indian and
Continental cuisines are served by the friendly attendants, and
as well as 'The Watering Hole', a well stocked bar.

Itinerary of the Royal Orient Train
The journey on the Royal Orient train
covers seven days tour of Gujarat and Rajasthan.
This train operates only from the month of October to March.
This tour starts from the Delhi Cantonment railway station on
the night of Wednesday and ends on the early morning of next
Wednesday on the Delhi station. This train covers Chittorgarh,
Udaipur, Junagadh, Veraval Somnath, Sasan Gir, Ahmedpur Mandvi,
Palitana, Sarkhej, Ahmedabad, Ranakpur and Jaipur. The
itinerary has been planned to show you the most breathtaking
sights in the most comfortable and convenient way. |

Day 1: Wednesday Delhi Cantt. Departure 1500 hrs.
The royal journey on the Royal Orient begins with a warm and
traditional welcome of the guests at the Delhi Cantonment railway
station. Delhi was once the city of the heroes of the Mahabharata
and ruled by the Tughlaqs, the Khiljis and the Mughals. After
receiving the welcome, the guests will be acquainted with various
luxurious facilities at the train. Later in the evening, the Royal
Orient departs for the week-long journey through fascinating state
of Gujarat and Rajasthan. Evening tea and dinner on board.
Day 2: Thursday Chittorgarh Arrival 06.30 hrs. Departure 09.15 hrs. Udaipur
Arrival 1215 hrs. Departure 18.30 hrs Mehsana
In the morning, around 5.30 AM, the Royal Orient arrives at the
Chittorgarh railway station. Chittorgarh, once the pride of the
Rajputs has Rajasthan's noblest yet tragic history. After having
breakfast you will visit the Chittorgarh. Chittorgarh is known for
the Chittorgarh fort. Chittorgarh Fort was built in the 7th century,
and covers 700 acres. Within its sprawling ramparts lies the
beautiful palaces, the Tower of Victory, the nine-storied
watchtower, Rana Kumbha Palace and the Temple of Mirabai. After
visiting Chittorgarh, return to the Royal Orient, and leave for
Udaipur. In the afternoon arrive in Udaipur and drive to the royal
hotel for lunch. Udaipur was founded by Maharana Udai Singh of Mewar,
after the Sisodia dynasty was driven away by the Mughals in 1559 AD.
After having lunch at the Lake Palace Hotel, visit the City Palace,
Sahelion-Ki-Bari and Folk arts museum. After having sightseeing,
return to the Royal Orient and depart for Mehsana. Dinner on board.
Day 3: Friday Mehsana Arrival 0645 hrs. Departure 1115 hrs. Junagadh
Arrival 1400 hrs. Departure 1600 hrs. Veraval Arrival 1800 hrs.
In the morning, arrive at Mehsana railway station. From Mehsana,
drive in coaches to visit the Sun Temple at Modhera. The famous Sun
Temple was built in 1026 AD. The temple is an imposing structure and
is counted among the best specimens of Indian art and architecture.
After having sightseeing drive back to the train for Ahmedabad.
Breakfast and lunch on board. In Ahmedabad, there would be an
operational halt for one hour. After having a small break depart for
Junagadh. In the evening arrive in Junagadh. In Gujarati, "Junagadh"
means an ancient fort. The town of Junagadh takes its name from the
fort that enclosed the medieval town. In Junagadh you will visit
Ashokan Rock Edict of 3rd century BC, Darbar Hall Museum, Mausoleum
of Nawab Mahabat Khan. After having sightseeing depart for Veraval.
Arrive in Veraval by the late evening. In Veraval, visit the famous
Somnath temple. This temple is situated on the Arabian Sea and one
of the twelve most sacred shrines of Lord Shiva. Dinner on Board.
Day 4: Saturday Departure 0500 Hrs. Arrival Sasangir 0630 Hrs. Departure
Sesangir - 1130 Hrs Arrival Dilwara - 1430 Hrs Departure Dilwara -
2005 Hrs
In the early morning leave from Veraval to Sasan Gir. Arrive in
Sasan Gir by 06.30 AM and visit the Gir Wildlife Sanctuary, the last
abode of the Asiatic Lion. Gir Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the most
important wildlife sanctuaries in India, and the only place in India
where the majestic Asiatic lion can be seen in its natural habitat.
After having breakfast depart for Dilwara. In the evening arrival in
Delwara and visit the Ahmedpur Mandvi and Diu. The Samudra Beach
Resort on the Arabian Sea with its mud baked walls, offers the
perfect holiday ambience. Across Ahmedpur Mandvi is the island of
Diu. In Diu, you will visit the Diu Fort and St. Paul's Church. The
Diu Fort was built over six years from 1535 AD, following a defence
alliance between Bahadur Shah, the Sultan of Gujarat and the
Portuguese. Later, depart for Palitana. Dinner on board.
Day 5: Sunday Palitana Arrival 0740 Hrs. Departure 1230 Hrs Arrival Sarkhej
- 1905 Hrs. Depart for Ahmedabad
In the morning arrive in Palitana, the place of victory. Palitana is
one of the India's most picturesque pilgrimage centre. More than 863
Jain temples are built in delicately carved marble, on the top of
the Shatrunjaya hill. In Palitana, you will visit various temples
such as the Adinatha, the Chaumukh, the Kumarpal. After visiting the
temples drive to Sarkhej. Arrive in Sarkhej by the evening. In
Sarkhej, you will visit a village and palaces. With every tradition,
every custom kept intact. You will enjoy the medieval folk art and
visit the utensils museum. In Sarkhej, you will have dinner at the
Vishalla village and later depart for Ahmedabad by bus.
Day 6: Monday Departure Ahmedabad - 1405 Hrs Arrival Ranakpur Departure
2000 hrs. for Jaipur
In the morning visit Ahmedabad, the gateway to Gujarat. Ahmedabad is
situated on the Sabarmati river, the city's architecture is a unique
blend of the Hindu and Muslim styles of architecture. In the
sightseeing visit Gandhi Ashram, Calico Museum of Textiles, Sidi
Sayyad's Mosque and depart in the bus back to the Royal Orient train
for Ranakpur. Breakfast on board. Ranakpur, located about 96 kms
from Udaipur is one of one of the five main holy places of the Jains.
There are 29 halls, 80 domes, 1444 pillars with intricate carvings
in the temples. After visiting the temple depart for Jaipur. Dinner
on board.
Day 7: Tuesday Jaipur Arrival 0750 hrs. Departure 2155 hrs. Delhi
In the morning the Royal Orient, arrives in Jaipur. Jaipur, also
known as the Pink city, is one of the most well planned cities of
the world. Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan, was founded by
Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, in 1727 AD. After having breakfast you
will leave for sightseeing. In the sightseeing you will visit the
Amber Fort, about eight kms. away from Jaipur. Enroute to Amber Fort
you will visit the Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Winds, which is a
remarkable five storeyed building in the main old city. You will
visit the Amber Fort on the back of the elephants. After having
lunch, you will visit the City Palace, home of the erstwhile royal
family and Jantar Mantar, the largest observatory built by the Sawai
Jai Singh II. After having sightseeing, return back to the train
around 9.55 pm for further journey to Delhi. Dinner on Board.
Day 8: Wednesday Delhi Arrival 0700 hrs.
In the morning, around 0700 AM, arrive in Delhi Cantonment railway
station, taking back with you delightful memories of your great
journey.
