          Jodhpur is 
          the 2nd largest city of Rajasthan and one of the prominent tourist 
          spot in Rajasthan. Jodhpur is known as "Sun City" for the bright and 
          sunny weather which it enjoys all around the year.  Jodhpur is located 
          on the edge of Thar Desert at an elevation of 216 meters above sea 
          level with Bikaner, Nagaur and Jaisalmer as the main adjoining cities. 
          Jodhpur is also called the blue city as most of the houses of the old 
          city are painted blue. Jodhpur is well-known for its wonderful forts 
          and palaces. Jodhpur was the capital of the princely state of Marwar 
          earlier. Jodhpur has some famous attractions such as Mehrangarh fort 
          which is situated on a rocky hill and colourful markets of Jodhpur 
          which specialize in antiques.

          of Jodhpur is about 40 degree Celsius in summers and it is about 11 
          degree Celsius in winters. Best season to visit Jodhpur is from 
          November to March. Languages which are spoken in Jodhpur are:

                    History of Jodhpur  |

          The 
          foundation of Jodhpur was laid down in 1459 by the Rajput chief Rao 
          Jodha. Jodhpur was the capital of the princely state of Marwar 
          earlier. The old city of Jodhpur is enclosed by a 10 km long wall 
          which has 7 gates and 101 bastions. In the city of Jodhpur there are 
          about 100 towers in the city, most of which are enclosed by protective 
          battlements. In 1211 this area was won by his Rathore Rajput clan. 
          When the older capital of Mandore become too susceptible then Rao 
          Jodha moved to the Jodhpur that time. Jodhpur lies on the strategic 
          Delhi to Gujarat road network, the Marwaris got advantage from the 
          passing traffic of opium, silk, copper which was traded to China. For 
          the military power of the state, the marwaris provided the necessary
