Hotel Silver Oaks belongs to the Elgin Heritage Group of Hotels. This four star hotel is located at Kalimpong and symbolizes of an era gone by. The Hotel Silver Oaks was built in 1930 as the family home of a leading British Jute Magnate, Mr. John Mason. The property later moved on to Mr. Frederick Desraj, a prominent architect of Old Kalimpong and the Teesta Bridge. Finally, the Silver Oaks was acquired by the Elgin Heritage Group of Hotels and build the first floor as a natural extension of the old style of architecture. The restoration work was completed in about five years.
