Sanganer is a town which is located on Tonk Road at a distance of
about 18 kms from Jaipur, the capital and largest city Rajasthan. It
is well-known for Shrine of Jains, handmade paper industry, and for
textile printing. Sanganer prints are one of its own types, for the
reason that samples in bright colors are always printed in white
backgrounds. Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II started the handmade paper
          industry in the year 1728.

          History of
          Sanganer |

          |
Sanganer dates back to the early 18th century. Sanganeri prints and
the paper industry are more than 300 years old, at the time when
Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II was the ruler. Sanganer is a main centre
for industrial practices involving the manufacture of blocks prints
and paper since a long time and is also one of the prominent
historical place of Jaipur. In the beginning, the town is enclosed by
many tiny palaces and regal courts, most of which are reduced to
gravel and dust today. The remains of these wonderful places and the
ancient Jain temple structures are the popular tourist spots and are
          visited by people from all.

Sanganer is a prominent religious place for Jain community because of
a very ancient Jain Temple built of Red sand stone.
Shri Digamber Jain temple, a very old
religious place of Sanganer is about 17 km from Jaipur.
In this shrine the main Deity the Lord
Adinath (Rishabh Dev), the first Tirthankara is situated which is
believed to be more than 3500 years old.

          Shri
Digambara Jain shrine of Sanganer has beautiful statues that are
similar to the Dilwara Temples of Mount Abu that are built in various
          parts.
Last part of this amazing temple was finished
in the 10th century A.D., as per the inscription of V.S. 1011 in one
of the Toranas. It has sky-high
sikharas and the inner chamber is a temple of stone with skyhigh eight
          Sikharas (summits).
          A very old
small shrine protected by the Yaksha is situated in the middle of
underground portion of the temple. The religious shrine has 7
underground levels which are kept closed due to old spiritual ideas
and visitors are not allowed to view them.

          It is
believed that only a Balyati ascetic Digambara saint can enter in it
and able to bring out the statues of this underground temple for a
limited period, which is confirmed and decided earlier. The statues thus brought out for
viewing (Darshan) of devotees, must be placed back with in favorable
symbols. The shrine came in light when
Muni Sudhasagar ji, a follower of Acharya Vidyasagar ji visited the
          underground floors of the temple.
          He brought
a very precious Jain Murti which is built of expensive sandstones from
the underground floors in the presence of more than five lac Jain
          devotees.
          He
declared that he meet many Yaksha in form of snakes who were there to
protect the fortunes and normal people cannot enter into the
underground floors without taking permission from the protector
          deities.
